Now in its research phase, using poetry and creative non-fiction, bloodroot attempts to follow the path blazed by the celebrated author Alex Haley’s seminal work Roots. Using poetry and creative non-fiction, Ferrell will take the readers through a historical and genealogical search for the first woman (on her matriarchal line) brought to the American shores as a slave.
• The Seduction Deduction: Erotica, Intellect, and Godlike Transformation in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. w/Julian Williams
An examination of how and why Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson have evolved over time and, moreover, why they seem to resurface unapologetically as some of the most iconic modern day detective duos.

• Tuck—(Novel)
Tuck will focus on the myth of Black maleness, community, and familial responses to mental illness and depression in African American families.
• Me and Little Louie—(Children’s Literature)
Little Rebel, is the smartest 8 year-old around. She’s a wordsmith. A storyteller. A Spelling Bee champion. One of the coolest kids in the 2nd grade.
Everything appears to be going well, until her mother remarries.
Now she has to get used to living with a new stepfather and his “know-it-all, follows me everywhere, oh, why don’t you go someplace else?” 4 year-old son, Louis.
