Still in its research phase, bloodroot attempts to follow the path blazed by the celebrated author Alex Haley’s seminal work Roots. Using poetry, Ferrell will take the readers through a historical and genealogical search for the first woman (on her matriarchal line) brought to the American shores as a slave.

In the spirit of the acclaimed and award-winning essayist David Sedaris, Things They Did To Me: My Family In Shades is a semi-demi-faux autobiographical look at family and how best to survive them.

An examination of how and why Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson have evolved over time and, moreover, why they seem to resurface unapologetically as some of the most iconic modern day detective duos.

Tuck will focus on the myth of Black maleness, community, and familial responses to mental illness and depression in African American families.

Me and Little Louie—(Children’s Literature)

Little Rebel, is the smartest 8 year-old around. She’s a wordsmith. A storyteller. A Spelling Bee champion. One of the coolest kids in the 2nd grade.
